Shelter
The project took place in the Wrocław Contemporary Museum, a building that was originally constructed as a bomb shelter. We removed the floor grilles, which were positioned one above the other across the building’s three floors. We then filled the empty spaces with fabric and lay down on it, wearing skirts made from the same material. This quasi-camouflaged us within the gaps we had created. We tried to fall asleep. Tearing the fabric on the upper floor risked one of us falling onto a friend on a lower level. Visitors appeared in the building and walked past us cautiously. Despite our camouflage, they spotted us, lowered their voices and even whispered various stories to us.
