Hug
„Hug” is a multi-dimensional project addressing the issue of exclusion. The starting point for conversations with people encountered by chance was an open question: does the problem of social exclusion affect you, and if so, how? Whilst answering, each respondent had the opportunity to make a handprint in malleable porcelain, which was later fired in a kiln. The resulting impressions were preserved and became handrails on one of Wrocław’s bridges. Due to the narrow structure of the bridge, pedestrians were forced to grasp the railing – performing a symbolic act of embrace and reconciliation with the excluded, whose recorded and played-back statements could be heard.
