4:0
We buried ourselves in the ground some distance apart; only our heads, facing the four corners of the world, protruded above the surface. Without bodies that could move in a way visible to others, we surrendered to helplessness and placed ourselves at the viewer’s disposal. The positions we adopted made any defence impossible. It was our shared experience of a situation that forced us to confront our own bodies and their helplessness. The 4:0 result is a confrontation with the viewer, a victory both over them and over our own fears and discomfort. Paradoxically, reducing body language to a gaze, even from a lower position, gave us an advantage and a sense of power and agency.
